Question
is there a way one can get relief from pressure points while wearing cervical collar. My daughter recently had neck surgery and wears collar 24/7 she is telling me the pressure at back of head and chin is very sore. Please, any suggestion will be welcomed.

Answer
Mary,

Until the tissues affected by surgery heal, the collar should be used.

However, the reason for such surgery is usually muscular contractions that cause pain and limit movement, and sometimes cause bone and disc degeneration.

Even if surgery corrects bone-problems, the muscular problems usually persist and must be corrected by muscular retraining.

Please see the article on whiplash injuries at somatics.com/page4.htm.  It's important to your daughter's future well-being.
