Question
For a long time at night when im under the covers my right hand just goes dead,i cant feel nothing so when it happens i have to get it out from under the covers to wake it up.I thaught maybe it was because i was sleeping on it but its not that.So i tried by putting both arms under the covers and within 15 minutes my right hand is dead.what can be causing this

Answer
Bernadette,

Sounds like either a circulatory condition or a pinched nerve -- the nerve either at your elbow or at the place where it exits your neck to go down your arm.

Either tight forearm muscles or a whiplash injury are likely behind it.  Please see the article at somatics.com/whiplash.htm for more understanding and for help with the condition.  See also the comparison of somatic training with chiropractic at somatics.com/page3.htm.

If it's a forearm condition, there is an movement exercise in the book, The Magic of Somatics, that can help; see somatics.com/page7.htm for more information.

a good wish for your recovery,
Lawrence Gold
