Neck, Arm Pain

Question
I woke up a week ago with burning in my neck/shoulder area.
I could not lift left arm higher then my waist.  I could not control my fingers.  This lasted about 20 min.

I still have neck pain/burning on the left side.  Occasional tingling at the fingers and arm pain.

When i feel the back of my neck near the spine i feel a lump
on the left side about the size of strawberry.

Answer
Hello, Joy,

From your description, I can't be sure what the lump is; it could be muscles in contraction, which often cause tingling, numbness, or pain by trapping and compressing nerves.

If that's what it is, a clinical somatic educator can usually bring you lasting relief with a few sessions.  If rapid relief isn't forthcoming, I would recommend a medical examination to rule out anything serious.
