Question
Hello, I am 35 year old man, lifted weights since i was 13 years old but have not done so for the last couple of years due to upper right neck, back, trap, shoulder (front and back of shoulder pain) and my lat and subscapula.
It seem to all start in the trap about 8 years ago. Then progressed into my neck and subsapula. This is a constant pain that never goes away. Sometimes it is not as bad as others. If I do any pressing movements over my head its bad in these areas.
The shoulder injury is probably serperate due traumatic blow to inner arm on the bicep about 3 inches up from the elbow durring a basketball game 3 years ago. this blow left me unable to bend my arm to my ear to talk on the phone for at least 3 months and even when range of motion came back. My hand would fall asleep after less than a minute on the phone, especialy in my last 2 fingers. It hurts right where my front shoulder comes together or where the bicep ties in. It also hurts directly opposite on the back side. The front also hurts at the elbow if I hold something of any significance in a bent arm position for 30 seconds or so.
Also if I thow a ball even twice I thow my arm out. If i jump up to touch the rim or stretch it way up it goes numb down my arm.
My dad, brother and 9 year old daughter suffer from the neck, trap, sub scapula pain also. Is it possible that this is inherited.
I have went to a chiropracter here for many years. And he does give me some releif but it is never the fix.
Any ideas.

Answer
I don't know exactly what kind of adjustments the chiropractor has been doing, but it sounds like you have a scapular issue.  To give you a precise answer I would have to perform my own exams.  It also could be a problem with the bicep tendon.  Again, without a proper exam it is difficult to give you an exact answer.
