Last MRI w/o contrast: Cervical Spine MR w/o contrast.

Views suggest some degenerative changes to C1-2
relationship near the dens. Slight postierior angulation to the upper dens with prominence to its postierior margin ligamentous structures. No evidence of coronal abnormalities.

There is right moderate unconvertale joint spurring at C2-3 (axial seres #27-29). Mild disk bulge is likely.  Slight blateral unconvertable joint spurring and disk bulging at C3-4 and C4-5 without protrusion.  findings are similar at C5-6 with minimal irregularities to the posterior aspects of the vertabralbodies. No focal protrusion or definate mass.

Lumbar Spine MR w/o contrast:

views demonstrate normal alignment and height.  The lower cord and the low L1 conus regions are unremarkable.  Neutral foramina unremarkable with only minimal inferior recess narrowing at L4-5 and L5-S1 more on the left than the right.  Axial views demonstrate a slight midline disk buldging or protrusion at L5-S1. A thin, left lamina is noted at L5.  L3-4 and L4-5 are unremarkable in their disk configuration.

Answer
First, your xrays demonstrate normal aging in a very active individual that has had a very unstable spine, either from auto accident or other incidents involving the neck.  As for the migraines, these could be cranial related.  I am a chiropractor and have numerous patients that come to my practice for migraine relief.  The cranial sutures (the "soft spots" on babies) can lock up and cause a decrease in cerebral spinal fluid flow.  The degenerative changes at C1-2 could also be the reason, again, locking up and causing severe muscle tension at that level.  I know this is probably unclear, my suggestion is to seek a chiropractic evaluation, but not all chiropractors treat cranial problems.  Go to www.sorsi.com to locate a doctor near you.  I am a member of this group, we are located all over the U.S. and I would trust any one of them with my own family.  I am located in St. Paul, Minnesota and would be more than happy to see you.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please email me.
