Question
Hi,

I had an accident just over two years ago whereby I was unloading a container of washing machines at my place of work when I slipped from the back of the container and a washing machine fell from the top of the stack on to the top of my head. Ever since then I have suffered with continuous headaches, a loud high pitched whistling/buzzing in my head 24/7 and bad pain from mid way between my shoulder blades up my back and neck. What could be the cause of this pain please. I keep getting told that they cant find whats wrong tho have just had an mri scan and am waiting on the results. Tho I got told there was nothing wrong with me before after a previous accident(1994) whereby I slipped and done the splits and consequently spent ten years in pain before they found that I had had a labaral tear in my right hip which had become over two centimeters in diameter and had been bone on bone for much of that time which I do still suffer with to date.
I would be grateful for your time and advice.

Many Thanks
Mr A Hall

Answer
Dear Mr. Hall,

If you were my client, I would be examining you to determine if you had high muscular tension in your neck and upper back, which would cause the pain, headaches and possibly ringing in the ears.

Injuries such as yours typically trigger such muscular tension as a reflexive protection response during the moment of injury, a protection response that often persists indefinitely.

Such muscular tension is probably also to be found in your hip and possibly contributes to the pain you have, there, in addition to the bone-on-bone contact.

Please see my articles on pain management and whiplash at somatics.com/page4.htm for more information and a course of action.
