Question
I am 33 years old, mother of 2.  I have been having trouble with my hands swelling and hurting for about a week now.  My knee joints hurt me also.  I have troulbe at times sitting cross legged and standing afterwards.  The joints feel tight or full.  I can not take ibuprofen or any drug in its classification due to stomach problems. What sould I take for the pain and swelling and could this be a sign for arthritis? Please advise me on this matter.

Thanks,
Michelle

Answer
Dear Michelle,   YES, this could be arthritis and you need to see the doctor and have blood work done for Rheumatoid Arthritis (called the RF blood work)....  It could also be associated with OTHER types of autoimmune diseases besides Rheumatoid Arthritis or it could be Osteoarthritis....

As for the pain, Tylenol or any other over the counter medication WITHOUT Ibuprofen in it or a prescription drug like Darvocet N-100.....

Thank you,   karen
