Question
I am wondering if I should wait this out or go to my MD.  I am embarrassed
because I was just there, and the symptoms came on approx. a week later.
I am 43 years old, and have physical job that involves using my hands (I have
done this job for 20 years).  Recently I have noticed pain in both my feet on
the bottom over the ball area and across.  It feels as if I am walking on bones,
stiff and achy; and is really painful in morning and at end of day.  My hands
are also very stiff and sore especially the bases of my finger joints and thumb.

Answer
First, drop the embarrassment. It obviously wasn't something interfering with your life at that point.  Because it is now, though, definitely make another appointment.  While you're waiting to see him/her, keep track of when your pain starts, what you were doing and what relieved it, if anything.

Example:  Aug 24 - Pain in right ball of foot, started when I got out of bed at 7:00am.  2 aspirin and walking around a bit lessened the pain. Pain again at 5:00pm in feet, same area.  Rested with feet elevated and pain lessened. etc., etc.

Be sure to write down everything you want to ask your doc, too. It's so easy to get rushed and forget things in those appointments.  But the more s/he knows about your symptoms, the more information to help diagnose and treat it.
