Question
I understand that you can not provide diagnosis over the internet.  Would the removal of a medal plate and two screws from my ankle possibly help with chronic pain. It hurts the most when I am sitting and injections no longer help. I am in my thirties and this was caused by compound fracture a few years ago.
It hurts most when sitting and then having to get up. A few minutes later I am better usually.. Injections no longer help. One Dr says the pain is from " bone spurs" and another says it is "post operative arthritis".  Both ate uncertain of any improvement after removing the hardware which distinctively bothers me also. Is it possible from what you have seen with other patients to ever get my leg back to normal?

Answer
Dear Robert,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618, Ukranian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says...
Sometimes removal of screws & plates decrease pain. In your case it sounds like there is arthritis in the ankle joint. I would go to board certified podiatric ankle specialist. They will be able to give you a prognosis. Sometimes an ankle arthroscopy may provide years of relief. You are too young to have an ankle joint replacement. An ankle fusion may work-but needs to be thought through carefully.

Hope this helps & Good Luck!
