Housemaids Knee?

Question
Hello,

I am a 42 year old woman.  I garden quite a bit and recently have noticed a sharp pain in my knee when I kneel on it.  Kind of like kneeling on a tack. It happens every so often, depending on where my weight falls on my knee. There are times when I am kneeling and I feel no pain whatsoever, but sometimes putting pressure on my knee in a certain way when kneeling does cause the knee pain. I didn't/don't have any swelling, so I'm not sure it's Housemaid's knee due to that. There's no visible trauma or anything to my knee. Can housemaid's knee occur without any swelling?

Answer
Dear Lena,
This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661, Roscoe Village 60618, Ukrainian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says,
For your occasional knee pain.....
Sounds like "gardener's knee'-which is occasional stiffness due to lack of movement & pain if the hard ground hits the right spot.
Change position often & use one of the knee pad products out there.
Hope this helps & Good Luck!
