Question
Dr. Blom:
I had asked questions with follow-up previously but I was not able to click on a tab again for additional follow-up so I am starting over with my questions.  My daughter has misalignment in the C1,C2 and C5,C6 with loss of cervical curve.  You had provided information on what to look for in selecting a qualified upper cervical practitioner, qualifications needed, and information about "holding the adjustment" for healing, and discussed regaining some the the loss of natural cervical curve.

A couple techniques that I have seen recommended are the Blair and Toggle-Recoil.  One doctor that I have contacted does treat many upper cervical issues but is not an upper cervical specialist.  She mostly uses the diversified manual technique.

My (2) questions: (1) Could you recommend some additional techniques that can be successful for upper cervical misalignment and longer term help in restoring some of the loss of natural curve and (2)  What is your opinion of the diversified manual technique to help with these issues?  Can it also be successful?

Thank you.
Sandy

Answer
Sandy,

I would recommend finding an Upper Cervical Chiropractor if you are interested in getting results.

Additional techniques are KCUCS (google it), NUCCA, Orthospinology, Atlas Orthogonal, Grostic and you are already aware of Blair technique and toggle recoil.

Diversified technique is not recommended as it is gross manipulation. From the description given of the situation it sounds as though your daughter needs a precision "tailor-made" adjustment. Diversified technique is one size fits all.

Hope this helps,
