Narrowing of the C5 and C6

Question
I have a narrowing of the C5 and C6 in my neck which left me unable to move my head or neck for 2week. The pain was out of this world. What happens now as i am supposed to see a spinal surgeon

Answer
A narrowing in the spine causes pressure against the spinal cord.  This pressure can cause pain, loss of full movement, and even paralysis.  If the narrowing continues and is left untreated, permanent damage can occur.

I would imagine that since you are scheduled to see a spinal surgeon that your MRIs and X-ray films have shown that surgery might be helpful to correct the problem.   The surgery typically is done to remove some of the bone pushing against the spinal cord and thereby relieving the pressure.

It's called a decompression laminectomy and I'm sure that your spinal surgeon will explain the process if that is what you need to have done.

Thank you for your questions, Rachel.  I hope that my answer was helpful.
