laceration at T7

Question
I would like to know how long it would take to find out for certain what loss of function can be determined for a young girlwith a laceration of the spinal cord at level T7.

Answer
Hi James,
Thanks so much for your questions.

It is going to depend on the severity of the injury and whether she suffered a complete laceration of the cord or not.

If the cord suffered a complete laceration, then the effects of the injury would be immediate. If there was a partial laceration, it may take up to 2 years before the effects of the injury are known.

If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask me anytime.

Thanks again,
John McKinzie
