Question
I was wondering if I will be able to snowboard this season.  It has been six months since the accident and I feel fine I guess.  I fractured my C2 and the doctor told me that I probably will not be able to sky dive or bungee jump which is fine with me but snowboarding is a big one but everytime I go to his office some how I forget to ask him because I have tons of other questions and totally forget about snowboarding.  So I would like your advice if I am not able to snowboard this season I guess that is okay but will I ever be able to snowboard?

Answer
Hi Rob,
Thanks so much for your question.

This is a question that is best answered by your doctor but since you ask me, I would suggest that you not take a chance and forego snowboarding this year. If the doctor has already warned you about doing some extreme sports then there must be some concern with the nature of the injury.

A person with a C2 injury usually suffers paralysis from the neck down and requires a respirator to breathe. I am glad that your injury wasn't more severe.

I hope this helps and if you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask me anytime.

Thanks again,
John McKinzie
