Question
My Son suffered a "crack" at the c-1, he has all mobility and functions and is in a neck brace for 14-17 weeks, I am looking for information about rehab for the neck and what to anticipate.

Answer
Hi Chava

Wow, sounds like he 'dodged a bullet'! As long as he didn't injure the spinal cord, he can potentially be the same as he was before (as long as he is careful not to re-injure himself until the bones have plenty of time to heal).

Whether or not he will need rehab- and how extensive it might be- would be best determined by his doctor.  I've heard of people not needing any rehab when the bones alone were involved in an injury. If the rest of his body is still pretty strong, they may ok him to return to regular activities.

In the meantime, make sure he gets alot of rest and wears that brace (he'll get sick of it, believe me!)- that should get everything healing nicely.

good luck
leslie
