Question
Hi, My name is Alicia and I have had back/neck/shoulder pain most of my life. It is however getting much worse and at times is unbearable. After sitting, walking, standing or doing any other activity for over 20 minutes I get this painful "Burning" sensation in a specific area on the left side of my shoulder/neck area. I found putting pressure on it helps. I seen a chiropractor once and had x-rays. I was told my left side was that of an unhealthy 65 year old. I am only 24, active and healthy in weight/body fat ect. So, that worried me- every motor test he gave me I failed on my left side. I daily get pain right down my spine as well. I have poor posture and curvature to my spine. I use bio-freeze almost everyday to help with the terrible pain but that is all.  Sorry for the length of this but I am desperate! Thank-you for your time!

Answer
Hi Alicia,

It seems from the x-ray consult of the chiropractor that your spine has been through some trauma thereby presenting some arthritic changes.  This could be the cause of the pain about the neck area.  The pressure helps the pain could indicate that the muscles have some knots in it that need to be broken up.

A chiropractor should be able to help you in that aspect with trigger point therapy and some neck adjustment if the spine is out of alignment.
