Upper arm pain when stretch

Question
I have had this "soft" pain in my upper left arm for a few months now.  There is no pain there, normally.  But when I stretch or reach backwards, the it a "soft," sometimes piercing, pain in the upper arm below the shoulder ball and elbow.  Not very isolated.  I always thought it was from my 50 lb dog lurching after squirrels.  I try to remember to hold the leash in my right hand, but sometimes I forget.  Like the other day, when he lurched suddenly.  The instant pain in this section of the arm was unbearable. I screamed and fell to the ground - on purpose.  I laid there in agony for about 2 minutes, and then it was OK, except for some slight numbness.  It doesn't bother me unless I move the arm way backwards - like to tuck in my shirt in the sides or back.  What's causing this?  Any recommendation to heal/correct?

Answer
Dear Don,

There could be various issues going on at your shoulder.  You could have strained the shoulder or may have slight dislocation depending on examination.  The AC joint around the shoulder may be affected.  My recommendation is to seek consultation with a chiropractor to really know the root of the pain.  Once known, management plan would be appropriate in treating your condition.
