Strep Throat

Question
I have had strep throat for the past couple of days and they put me on medication yesterday. I read online to eat cool or hot items and to drink tea, but anything I consume other than room temperature water (sometimes) makes my chest feels like it is on fire. I haven't really eaten in about 3 days. I know this may not be chronic pain, but the is the only category I could really find to identify my problem. I am 16, 194 lbs. and roughly 6'3". Any help would be appreciated!!

Thank You

Answer
Nick,
I assure you I was not being condescending when I answered your question. In fact, I hurried to get to it because I realized that you needed an answer ASAP. When I said "common sense" I simply meant don't listen to what everyone tells you; use your own judgment, and if hot liquids hurt don't use them. Sometimes strep infections are so bad that they cause small tears in the mucus membranes covering the throat and tonsil area, so nearly anything you consume would be painful. I suggested room temp yogurt and Cloraseptic to use for the pain. You will be much better within a day or so with the proper antibiotics.

If you felt I was condescending I truly apologize. When we are ill oftentimes many people will offer advice and it is not always correct. I simply gave you the advice I would use for myself or my own family based on my professional training and experience.

Again, I hope you feel much better soon.
