Question
I am to disabled to live at home and take care of my family. I need to be taken care of, and need a place that will help me learn to live with my spinal arthritic condition. I can walk, and manage some tasks.I am so tired of laying in bed in such pain and loneliness.Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Dana and thanks for writing,

I would suggest you phone your local Health Authority and ask how one goes about moving into a Care Home, usually being assessed is the first step to see which kind of home you are appropriate for. Once you are assessed (physically & financially), then they can suggest afew appropriate homes in your area which you can go tour to see which ones suit your needs and wants.

I would think that you would suit an Assisted Living Home which is like an independent apartment with some care services and serves higher functioning people like yourself, but it all depends on your assessment.

I hope this helps and I wish you all the best,

Margot
