Question
If I stand on one leg, keep it perfectly straight, and bend forward 90 degrees at the waist---my hamstring or something in the back of my leg cracks similar to cracking a knuckle. Do you know what causes that? Is it bad for you? Thanks----Carlos

Answer
Hello Carlos,

Most of the time it is the tendon snapping over the bone or another tendon, due to tight hamstrings.  This usually is of no significance but is a sign of tight muscles.  Stretching and soft tissue massage may resolve the clicking.

Have a great day,
