Question
i have a complicated back problem to which i have read anatomy ,other medical clasics, posture books to further try to figure out what is really going on.

anyways the question are all muscles spasms most of time occuring in the tonic muscles? i have is sometimes i muscle spasms around the right sided gluteals somewhere and i was thinking that this may be the piriformis muscle that is spasms because it is tonic muscle? correct or not correct? and i do know very well of refered pain in the back as the area you have pain is NOT where the problem is. well is it possible to reffered pain to other muscles that produces muscles spasms in that muscle?

thanking you in advance.

Answer
Hello Jii,

Yes, there can be referred pain from other muscles.  This will not follow the any nerve pathway.  There may be satellite adhesions also.  Muscles act like pulley systems, one gets affected it can respond to the whole connecting chain.

Have a great day,
