Question
My joints crack ALL the time. It sometimes is hard to fall asleep because I feel discomfort that I can only solve by adjusting my body in certain ways to pop the joint. The main problem area is my hip, where the leg meets the hip. Turning my leg in a different direction will often pop or crack the joint. It does not hurt to do so. The discomfort is not pain, just a a mild feeling of abnormality that I cannot deal with for a long period of time. I am 20 years old and go to the gym sometimes, could this be related? However, I experience the problem even when I have not exercised in over a month.

Answer
Hello Danny,

Tight muscles, tendons and ligaments can cause clicking or snaping across the joint.  Specific soft tissue work on these muscles will relieve tension and may reduce if not relieve the "cracking".  Also strengthening and stretching these muscles yourself will ensure proper muscle tone and biomechanics.

Have a great weekend,
