pcos and low estrogen levels

Question
I have been recently diagnosed with the above condition and have read that a chiropractor can help with regard to becoming pregnant is this true?  I would appreciate any advise on the above as I have read quite a bit on pcos but not really that much on low estrogen and how this affects pcos and pregnancy.

Answer
Hello Nikki,

Doctor's of Chiropractic adjust the spine and other joints in the body, the spine houses the spinal cord, at each level of the vertebrea (bones in your back) a nerve root exits from each side of the vertebrea.  Thus adjusting the subluxations (misalignments) in the spine increases nerve flow and stimulates the nerve.  Nerves of the low back and sacrum directly innervate the pelvis and reproductive organs.  So essentially chiropractic may be beneficial to you.  But this condition must be also managed through the balancing of your hormones.  Often with this condition progesterone is not produced by your body and low estrogen.  Visiting a Endocrinologist (specialist in hormones)to balance your hormones levels out, and seeing a chiropractor, you may find the most benefit.

Have a great day,
Dr. Brendon O'Brien D.C.
