Lower Back Pain for a Long time!

Question
Dear Sir

I wondered if you could help me.

Since 2007 I have been suffering from lower back pain. I was diagnosed shortly after with severe sciatica at the age of 16 and was given only exercises to try and ease the pain.

It did get better for a month or two but comes and goes frequently, but the whole of my lower back including the sacral plexus area is painful when I bend or do any lifting. It has never seemed to of become better.

I began going to the chiropractor and the osteopath for treatment which did relieve the pain but short term only. Plus it was beginning to eat away at my bank account big time lol.

Now Im 20, nearly 21 and work in the theatre industry so touring alot and lifting heavy scenery and I do go to have a treatment done at the osteopath before I hit the road but I'm looking for something more permanent.

There was a case when I was unloading last Easter for a show and I went to pick a speaker up and I felt something twinge in my back. The pain was unbelievable, found it so hard to work and painful when I was lying down too and ended up in bed for a good couple of days and was walking like a 90 yr old. I saw my GP who sent me to physio but that didnt really seem to work for me.

I just think, 20 and young and back problems just doesn't seem right.

Any advice or anything would be much appreciated.
Kind Regards.

Answer
Ross,
Given your parameters you describe you were on the right track seeing a Chiropractor. If money is a problem explain it to the office manager and see if you can finance a package deal it's done everyday in the US.

You are correct someone in your age bracket should not be suffering the symptoms you describe.

Hope this helps. Resend if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
