Question
hi
i have a tightened trapezius muscle thats been giving me grief
my doctor advised advil, but it isnt helping much
would a chiropractor be able to help me?

Answer
Ammar,

Unless you literally strained your trapezius, e.g. from lifting something heavy on your shoulder, the trapezius muscle is likely not the complete source of your pain.  You are feeling symptoms in the trapezius, but that could be coming from underlying joints or from your neck.  Ibuprofen is not a cure.  A chiropractor that also has training in soft tissue methods including myofascial release and/or Graston Technique is your best bet.  We treat this all the time, successfully.  Your chiropractic initial visit should include a physical and orthopedic examination, and if you're deemed safe to treat, then it should commence.  If all goes well, you should find your symptoms improved in a few treatment sessions.

'Hope this helps.
