Question
Rob,

i had some wizdom teeth out 8 weeks ago and have had terrible complications on the RHS of my mouth - the teeth are tight to the extraction zone and I am getting severe pain along the jaw line - both surgeons i have seen have stated that there is no jaw damage but I'm not so sure.

I've lost 10kg on account of not being able to eat properly have not slept well consecutively for two nights since the operation and wondered whether it may be worth visiting a holistic chiropractor to get some ultrasound on the area combined with some physical therapy for the area.

the pain has been debilitating and have been prescribed everything under the sun. Am on some pretty strong painkillers currently and obviously don't want to get into a situation when it becomes habit forming.

Thanks for listening - the surgeon who undertook the operation had little empathy despite my pain and obviously need the support now so that I can function properly not only in work but socially.

Cheers
steve

Answer
Steve,
I am what is known as a "Straight Chiropractor"  What that means is that I practice according to the principle of Chiropractic like my forefathers did as they helped thousands and thousands of people.  Many DC's today do not practice Straight, Principled Chiropractic, but a mixture of Chiropractic along with other "treatment" modalities.
I would not recommend you to go and see a Doctor of Chiropractic for anything other than what Chiropractic is:  The detection and correction of the vertebral subluxation which interferes with the nervous system and causes abnormal function in the body.  So to answer your question of seeing a DC for ultrasound and physical therapy in the area, why not go see a physical therapist?  That is their job.
The job of the chiropractor is to correct nerve interference from a vertebral subluxation(misaligned spinal bone) and allow the body to once again function as efficiently as possible.
I think that it would be a good idea to see a chiropractor to make sure that your spine is in line and that there is no interference that could be obstructing your bodies ability to heal from having your wisdom teeth extracted.  In fact, it just makes good sense to see a Chiropractor regularly to assure proper nervous system function for whatever is happening in your life.  Would you ever want to have nervous system interference?  Regardless of whether you are in pain or not in pain, have a disease or have no diagnosis, feel great or feel lousy, either situation you should always strive for optimal function as opposed to abnormal function.  Does that make sense?

Nothing is bigger than LIFE,
Dr Robert Arnone
