Supraspinatus tendinopathy

Question
A couple of days ago I received results of an MRI which diagnosed spuraspinatus tendinopathy of my left shoulder and arm.  I will be seeing an orthopedic physician for further tests. My concern is that all it actually takes to feel severe pain is walking a short distance.  I then feel the shoulder and arm pain followed by a severe cramp-like pain in the outer area and underneath my left breast. I have had a checkup on my heart with no negative results.  Does anyone else feel this cramp-like symptom

Answer
Dee,

If you truly do not have a heart condition - as in you had a treadmill stress test - then it is possible the the tendinopathy pain causes your upper back and rib musculature to tighten up as you walk, and this reflects itself as chest pain.  It is not the supraspinatus.  If this is so, then see a chiropractor to get it fixed.   I'm still wondering about your heart, especially if you are over 50.

'Best,

Dr. G
