hip pain / bi-cep pain

Question
I am a very active 47 yr old. I run, play 90 games of hockey a winter. The last 6 months I have had hip pain (probably busitis) and a pain in both bi-ceps (one chord is sore going from the elbow to mid- bi-cep). Drugs have not worked. May a chropractic solution be available for pain that may be precipitated by inflamation? Accupuncture perhaps. Your response is most appreciated.   Dean Underhill

Answer
Dean,

Thanks for the question.  Unfortunately, a lot of what you are beginning to experience sounds like, despite the fact you are in great shape, father time starting to creep in.  The symptoms you are describing would be considered quite normal at this point in your career.  Hockey is a very demanding sport.

Chiropractic and nutritional considerations would probably be your best route at this time. You also need to be sure that you spend more time preparing for competition.  I mean stretching and pre-game warm-up.  On the other side you will have to spend more time with post-game care.  Icing, stretching, possibly some massage and anti-inflammation tactics such as the ice, digestive enzymes and arnica are a few nutritional considerations that can help.  Be sure you are eating well and getting the proper amount of protein and minerals into your body.

As we age, it is not necessarily our ability that declines, it is often our ability to recover that slows.  We need more time to recover and heal.  Proper sleep is extremely important as well.

Chiropractic treatment could be beneficial in restoring normal function and recovery.

I hope this helps and stay at it.
