Question
i do not think i am working out unevenly, i do plenty of workouts which incoroporate me trap muscles..including shrugs,deadlifts, and other back and shoulder lifts, which in incorporate both..there not lopsided either as far as strength in each trap muscle...im just basically having trouble on what i should do to a.) repair it, b.) prevent it from happening again, and c. if i should see a message specialist or a dr..by the way that link u sent me didnt work for some reason could u possibly send it again

hello i have been having pains in my trapezius muscles and lower neck, and cannot figure out how it happend, or how to fix it..i am a weight lifter, and im into working out..i do many shrugging exercises or exercises that incorporate the trapezius muscles..that could be what triggered the problem?..but i think it is sleeping on it funny which is doing it...i wake up every morning and i have a terribly stiff painful traps and lower neck..this has become a real pain too while driving i cannot turnn my head to the left very much b/c it stings too much...also when i put my neck down and look down it hurts on the left lower side of my neck...i dont know what i should do..should i get a neck massage from someone?.should i see a dr? any ideas on what u think i have, and also what i should do

I think your first guess is the correct one:  you are musclebound from your way of working out.  Too much muscle tone.  It's a conditioning problem.  Because it's more one side than another, either you're working out unevenly or you have an injury in your past made worse by building up muscle tone.

There is a way of conditioning that improves control of muscular action, so you're relaxed unless using your strength.

Nothing a doctor can do will help with too much muscle tone; massage may provide some temporary relief.  Basically, you've got to retrain your muscular control to relax the painful muscles, which hurt from soreness.
