Question
Hi, im recovery from a broken neck and finally after 8 months my doctors tell me c1 is healed.C4 and c5 were fused together and i wore a Halo for 3 months to fix c1 and then a miami j for 3 months.
It has been a long road and im wondering what neck movement restrictions im likely to face, and also will the scares in my forehead from the Halo ever go or how best to cover them up .  Many thanks

Answer
Joe,
Since over 60% of your rotation comes from the C1-C2 area, you will have some movement restriction in your neck for sure.  At this point do they have you on any physical therapy?  That would be an important part of regaining as much movement as possible at this point.
I could give you more specific answers if I were to see the pictures of the injuries.  Can you send me any X-Rays, or MRI?
As far as the scars, I believe that they will be there for good, and you may want to look into a skin care facility such as an aesthetician for assistance in covering that up.
There is no question that you were through a very serious injury, the fact that you are alive after it, is a testament that you have some important business to attend to or you have something left to do before you go.
Good luck in your recovery, I certainly wish you the best.

Yours in Best Health,
Dr Arnone
