Question
I went to the doctor for neck, shoulder, and arm pain.  MRI results are "C5-6 broad based central & left paracentral disc herniation abutting but not deforming the ventral portion of the spinal cord. C6-7 central disc herniation with an anular tear abutting the ventral thecal sac."  Doctor wants to treat with pain management (PM).  Not sure if I agree with that.  My thought process is that PM won't fix the problem, and this is only going to get worse. I'm thinking that I should go to a neuro surgeon.  Even with meds, I'm still having pain, numbness & tingling 24/7.  Your thoughts?  Thank you.

Answer
Shelley,
I agree with you that pain management will not correct the problem and the problem will continue to get worse. However, I do not agree with you whatsoever about going to the neurosurgeon for this problem.
That is not going to correct the cause either and actually once you alter what God gave you then there are always consequences to be paid and you would be paying them for the rest of your life.
We see people with similar trouble everyday in our clinic and so far not one of them has required the surgery after our care, NOT ONE.
Sen me your level of interest in having this corrected properly and if so also your location.  We can see if I can help you personally or if there is someone in your part of the country that may be able to help you.  Either way, you will most likely have to travel and take some time to heal properly. So ultimately it is up to you, if you would like this corrected properly the odds are in your favor that it can be done, we would obviously have to examine you to be sure that you are not an extreme oddity that we would not be able to assist.
