Question
I will try to make it short. In jan.2008 i injured my back at work, filled out report and all correctly and on time and the company has covered everything so far.I feel like I am on the biggest run around in history! first DR. wanted to do a fusion of the L4-L5 disc, i wanted a second opinion, second DR. told me to live with the pain and find a new job- not an option! Third DR. suggested and performed a disectomy and a nerve root cleaning? this was in aug. 2009 seemed to be going well then major pain and problems in nov . 2009. Went to physical therapy, facet injections, mri and have found that the L-4 L-5 disc is ruptured and leaking also did an emg and found the nerves are damaged at the L-5 S-1 level. Work comp has since sent me to another "DR." and suggested facet injections that did not work. Two DR.s that seem to care about me and not a paycheck are recommending a 2 level fusion any suggestions would be great i am sooo tired of the pain!! thank you, Fletch

Answer
Hi Fletch,

Get ready for a fourth opinion, spine surgery ends bad, period. Find a Chiro with a Flexion/ Distraction (F/D) table. Ruptured, herniated and bulging discs respond in a few weeks. This treatment has been around for some time and is considered the gold standard for this condition. Once the cut you will never be the same and quit possibly on permanent disability. Here is a link to what I am talking about.

It is well studied and researched, I personally specialize in your exact condition and know it works, please let me know if you have difficulty finding a Dr. with this equipment and I will find you one.

Good Luck,

Dr. Timothy Durnin
