Question
had n xray of cervical spine here the results multiple views of the cervical spine are obtained.there is starightening of the normal lordotic cure which may be on the basis of muscle spasm.the vertebral bodies and interspace are maintained height and stature with no evidence of fracture or subluxation.on the oblique views there is mild encroachment upon the neural foramina on the right at this or 5 level.clinical correlation is recommended.what does this all mean.impression:mild cervical spasm.minimal encroachment upon the neural foramina at the c4-c5 level of the right. what does all of this mean

Answer
Hi Vince,

It means your normal curve of the spine looking at it from the side is straighter than normal which will accelerate osteoarthritis due to the added stress on the joints of the neck. The encroachment implies that either there is a twist or subluxation closing off the IVF (neural foramina)(intervertebral foreamina) or hole that the spinal nerve exits is smaller or closed off more than it should be. Not knowing your age makes it difficult to comment on these findings being somewhat consistent with your age. None the less, a Chiropractor can restore the normal curvature and with all likely-hood open up that IVF. Possibly an old whiplash type injury caused this but many other types of trauma can as well. Show the films to a DC and get an opinion.
