X-ray report on my knee

Question
Hello :)  I just received the X-ray report back
from the knee X-rays I recently had.  I don't understand them and was hoping you could help me out.  (Right Knee, two views.)

Joint effusion present. Tricompartmental osteoarthritic change seen greatest in the
patellofemoral articulation.

Thank you.

Answer
Dear Connie,   Tricompartmental osteoarthritis simply means that you have joint effusion (osteoarthritis) is all 3 compartments of the knee....  The three compartments are the medial tibiofemoral joint, lateral tibiofemoral joint and the patellofemoral joint.....

Bottom line is that you have osteoarthritis of the right knee that may be considered severe or at least getting worse....

here is a web site and when you look at it read the pay most attention to and read the "diagnostic and evaluation" section and under that section the "radiology testing"...

thank you,   karen
