Hip grinding

Question
I'm 47 and had a total hip replacement 8 months ago titanium.  A few weeks ago I started to feel a grinding in my hip.  If I shake the leg it kind of feels like it rattles.  It's not a noise others can hear.  It's like when my knees pop/crack.  I have no pain and do exercise 5 time a week.  Is it possible the hip is loose already or is this normal?

Answer
Hello Richard

How much are you exercising?  Are you doing what was prescribed by your PT and orthopod, or are you doing things that are a bit too strenuous?  Are you being careful about your precautions?

I doubt the hip is loose so early on unless you have done things that were not prescribed.  If you are doing everything you are supposed to, you should be fine.  Some popping and grinding is normal.  But if you are concerned, call up your doctor for a check up.  Regardless, you should be followed once a year from now on to be sure that things are healing well with the hip.
