foot pain following hip replacement surgery

Question
On April 16th I had my left hip replaced.  I was in the hospital for 3 days. I was released on the 19th of April Since that time I have had pt and ot personnel at my house for therapy.  I am a 72 year old female and I weigh 165 pounds and have been in good health my whole life.  I did have a full left knee replacement about a year and half ago. I have developed an intense pain in my left foot and now the pain is starting up my leg.  I've tried ice, heat several different pain pills and now even 10 mg of valium won't put me to sleep. and what ever I try doesn't work

Answer
Hi Pat

It sounds to me as if this may be some nerve damage, you might want to ask your doctor about that.  Remember also, that your replacement is very new and you will have pain from the muscles that are being strengthened.

You probably should follow up with your doctor.
