Question
hi, i broke my fibular and shifted my tibia in april, i had surgery of internal fiaxation, got an infection during surgery when that cleared up i went back for a check up and my tibia had shifted even more because in surgery they had torn a ligament,so i had surgery again to have a screw through both bones. it has been 2 weeks since my operation and i have had a little bit of blood seeping through (about the size of a tic tac) i was wondering should i be concerned because i don't want anything else going wrong with it.
thank you
kind reagrds

Answer
Hi Sian,

I am an Orthopedic technologist my function is to place and remove splints, cast, and wound dressings.  A tic tac size of blood would probably be considered normal, however if you had signs of infection such as fowl odor, fever, chills etc I would be concerned.  What you should do is call your surgeon and talk to his nurse about what is going on.  have a pleasant day.
                                                             Sincerely, Mark
