Question
Hi Sharon Im a year now on both hips replaced lately, when at the end of day or if Im actively more active the left hip gets somewhat stiff and pinches a little in the groin on lifting leg a little Its not bad, is this at all normal to develop these things Help please. Thank you

Answer
Hi Susan

Congratulations on your surgery!

You'll find that with hip surgery, although you are out of pain, you have to remember that the prosthesis is not your original hip.  You may have aches and pains, but remember too that as we age normally we all get aches and pains.

I am not discounting that your hip is giving you pain at the end of the day when you are active.  But many things play into this.  If
you have a particularly active day, use a heating pad at night.  The stiffness could be muscular.

The thing that concerns me is the pain in the groin.  If I were you, I'd ease off on the activity for a few days and see if you feel better.  If not, you should probably go to your orthopod and have him take a look at you.

Sharon
