Question
HI, I read your background information and am aware that you specialize in the foot and ankle. I was wondering if you would be able to help me with some knee information. I believe I have patellar tendonitis. I have had knee problems on and off for three years now and it has gotten worse over time. If you cannot help me and if this subject is outside of your expertise I will completely understand. Thank you!

This Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Podiatric Orthopedist of AnklenfootCenters.com says.......

Dear Jamie,

Sorry for making this public-but no one is going to know-plus I do not answer questions unless they are public.......So here goes....
The most usual causes of patellar tendonitis are mechanical(biomechanics).
It may involve one leg being shorter than another-producing a low arch on one foot.Or just the shoes-or maybe the way you walk.
If you are overweight then that will make it worse.
If there is arthritis-an anti-inflammatory will help.
Try patella knee brace. It has a little hole for the patella.Go to AnkleNFootCenter.com online store for examples.
A podiatrist who is board certified in Orthopedics or treats athletes will be able to figure out the biomechanics and may be able to help with an orthotic.

Hope This Helps
Good Luck!
