Question
Hi,
I have been suffering from back pain for several years and recently decided to consult my chiropractor again.  Upon x-rays, he noted, among other problems, that my hip was higher on my left side by about 9mm.  He also told me that this makes my right leg functionally longer.  He then prescribed a heel lift in my right shoe to level my hip.  Is this the correct?
Thanks,
Tyler

Answer
Tyler,
NO this is not correct at all.  It is time to find a new chiropractor because this one obviously has no clue.  Putting in a heel lift is like saying to your body, OK, I know that we have a problem and I am going to cater to that problem so that it remains and we try to not notice it too much for awhile, although by not correcting it, it will never go away and will most likely cause you problems in the near future.
Does that sound like the work of a good doctor?
Send me your location and I will find you a good chiro that can help you.
