Question
Hi James,
I have arthritis. I have had pain in my shoulder for about 6 years. I have been told the pain I complain of is referred (deltoid area) from the shoulder joint however I know this pain occurred after doing a big cleaning session at home. I have had cortisone injections but they have not helped. I have now had a small scan and I was told there is slight tendonitis and an impingement of a ligament. However my doctor won't treat me for this and just wants me to go on antidepressants as I don't seem to be dealing with the pain. I am getting very frustrated and I have stopped taking sulpsazaphine as it was having no effect and I want to treat the cause of the pain as I dance and it is affecting my quality of life. I don't know what treatment I need to push my doctor for to cure this impingement. Could you advise me please?

Answer
Dear Annette,

Thank you for writing, though I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties.

There are many times when I receive questions based upon some common misconceptions about the chiropractic field.  I'm sorry to tell you that the issues you ask me to address are not within the professional domain of chiropractic.

I wish you the best.

Sincerely,
James W. Healey, DC
