cervical disc herniation

Question
I had thyroid cancer about a year ago.  I had my entire thyroid removed.  Back in Feb 2005 I was rear ended, I suffered a mild cervical disc herniation.  I've gone thru physical therapy, two cervical epidurals, and a cortizone shot to my right shoulder.  The MRI I've had showed the mild cervical disc herniation, and also a Chiari Malformation of 10mm.  They told me I was probably born with the Chiari.  I'm getting ready to have an MRI of my right shoulder.  I've had five surgeries since 2001 for stuff like reconstructive ligament surgery with a screw installed in my left ankle, compete thyroidectomy for papillary carcinoma of the thyroid, surgery on both my hands for Carpal tunnel.  I'm only 40yrs old, pretty good shape, minus falling apart.  Would seeking a Chiropractors help for what I have now be good for me?  I just don't want anymore surgeries, I feel like a pin cushion.  Please E-Mail me back with what you think.  Thanks a bunch.  A falling apart IrishMan

Answer
Hello Sean,

Chiropractic may help, seek out a doctor who specializes in sports injuries, myofascial work, and Nutritional therapies.  This may benefit you and provide some relief.  Also recommend full body massage to reduce overall tension.  Always have a clean diet and keep working out with weights and cardio!

Have a great day,

Dr. Brendon O'Brien
