Question
Dear Dr. Arnone,
My son is 20 years old and is studying voice in college. He has had allergies/slight asthma since the age of 15 and has been seeing an allergist. For the allergies, he is on Singulair and occasionally Zyrtec D. Regardless, his sinuses are always congested but he has never had a full blown asthma attack. He also gets frequent nosebleeds.
Recently, his voice coach told him to see an ENT as his throat is also congested. He has been waking up in the morning with a hoarse voice and has to spend a great deal of time warming up his voice. He has a lot of mucus which the ENT discovered when he scoped his throat. The ENT told him he has GERD and has put him on Nexium. He has been on the Nexium and the Singulair combined for a couple of weeks now and he tells me he feels worse than ever. His throat is sore all the time. I hate the fact that he is taking all this medication and not finding a solution for his problem. He keeps asking for advice but I don't know what to advise him.
I am a big believer in Chiropractic care and alternative therapy. I am wondering if a Chiropractor might be able to help him with this problem, either/or the GERD or his allergies?

Answer
Beverly,
You are smart to ask if chiropractic can help you and your son.  Since the nervous system is the master system of the body, and chiropractors are doctors of the nervous system, then you are in the right place here.  I suggest seeing an upper cervical specific doctor of chiropractic for your son.  IF you need help in locating one, just send me your town and your state, along with your nearest big city and an email address.  I will locate someone for you to help your son get well.
Yours in best health,
Dr Robert A. Arnone
