First time visit

Question
I recently visited a chiroprator for the first time.  I'm 27 years old.  I original scheduled the visit for a hip pain and feeling that the right side of my body was out of alignment.  I'm currently training for a marathon and am running 20-30 miles a week.  After going throught the exercises and test the doctor requested xrays.  I have sufffered from headaches for years, known that I have slight curve (scolosis) and neck/bain pain for years.  Of course, the xrays showed that I had phase 1 sublaxation and the curve of my neck is actually reversing.  The doctor reccomeded 50+ visit for complete correction of the curve of my neck.  I'm skeptical b/c this is my first experience and don't want to pay for something that can't be fixed.  The cost to me would be $2500.  Please advise the number of reccomended treatments for such as case.  Thank you

Answer
Dear Jennifer,

From your history and the recommendation of the chiropractor, it sounds like there is no fix to your condition but more of a maintenance therapy.  Otherwise, I would not know how a 50+ treatments was recommended.

If you are concerned about the first chiropractor you visit, I would recommend for you to get a second opinion from another chiropractor.  The best one is to ask your friend or family member for recommendation.

Good luck.
