Question
hello
my boyfriend has been going to his chiro for quite a while now and he does a particular manipulation that im not so sure about. when he adjusts his pelvis he asks him to take his pants off jocks and all and he moves muscles and ligaments around near his pubic region holding hisn penis to the side for quite some time.he does it to nearly all his male patients i know. i am wondering if this is appropriate or there is another way he can adjust this with out the exposure

Answer
I share your concerns and your suspicions. There is no legitimate "adjustment" with which I am familiar that requires the doctor to hold a patient's penis while "manipulating" ligaments and muscles of the pelvis. Indeed, it would be the rare situation in which a chiropractor (or a massage therapist) would need a male patient to disrobe in order to examine or treat the pelvis. Nearly all chiropractic treatment is performed with the patient clothed, or at least, properly gowned with the genitals appropriately draped.

I suggest that you report this situation in as much detail as possible to the state board of chiropractic examiners in your state if you are in the U.S. or the the appropriate regulatory board elsewhere (you can easily find the governing licensing organization for your region on the Internet). They need to investigate this practitioner to determine what exactly is going on.
