Question
QUESTION: I have been suffering from severe neck pain through my shoulder blade, down my to my finger tips which are tingly. I also feel electrical shock sometimes. I have been going to my chiro for 3 weeks, 3 times a week; he sent me to PT, they say my neck muscles are week and are having me do exercise which I have been doing form months at my gym. The PT seems to make me worse, the chiro helps me for approx. 5 min. They are sending me to pain management. My question is should I go see a neurologist. I dont' want to waste my time doing the chiro, pt and pain management. I have been in the pain for two months. I can not sit for more than 10 minutes without my arm and fingers having electrical feelings and increasing numb by each minute that goes by.

ANSWER: I understand your frustration. If the pt makes it worse then stop. Do what works for you. A neurologist will most likely send your for pt, chiropractic, or pain meds or possibly surgery.
The next stage is to run an EMG / NCV which a neuro. Would do. It's only a diagnostic test.
If I were you, I would go online and find a chiropractor that uses cold laser therapy. That may be your only hope to avoid surgery. I have been using cold laser therapy very successfully on cervical
and lumbar disc herniations.

QUESTION: Thank you for your quick response; I will take your advise as I am trying everything to get rid of this pain. I have three appts. on Monday: Pain Management (my first visit), PT, and then Chiro. I just feel they do not listen or take me seriously on how much pain I do feel.

Thanks again

Answer
I'm sure they listen. Understand that you have only
been under care for 3 weeks. If after 6-8 there is no improvement then you consider more invasive procedures. You should be seeing the chiro 3--4 times a week for at least a few more weeks. Good luck!
