Question
Dear doctor,
A year and 6months ago I started having a pain in my right flank, exactly in one of the last ribs.
I feel this pain only If I press or when I sleep on this side.I also feel it more if it take milk or any milk containing drink like yogurt or taking a cold drink and also if I eat (indomie)noodles.
I went to the doctor and he did ultrasound which was fine and blood test too.
I am still feeling this pain and am worried because I cannot find the reason.
I am a girl of 21, I am a student in the university. (I though t you'll need this information).
I appreciate your time and consideration.

Answer
Hi Marky,
I can understand your frustration.  If I understand your question correctly your pain in the right flank and the last rib, which increases with dairy and noodle intake correct?  I do not know from your question if the pain is in the front, side or back, please specify exact location/area.  The Ultrasound was done by your doctor but what was he looking for?  My best guess due to location of pain, he was checking your gall bladder and kidneys.  Likewise, the blood work was looking for cholecystitis, infection and possibly renal dysfunction. Sometimes this doesn't show up with these tests.  It may be likely that you have some bile sludge backed up in the gall bladder (which would have been seen in significant quantity) but there may be small stones in the gall bladder as well that when the bile duct contracts causes pain.   You may need a CT scan of the abdomen to verify early cholycystitis or kidney stones.
I would recommend seeing a chiropractor even if these tests are negative as there may be some other underlying musculoskeletal issue specifically, rib dysfunction at the costosternal or the costospinal joints (have this checked first) it is a significantly cheaper fix and does not require any X-ray dosage.  If the pain goes away and you can drink milk etc without discomfort, fantastic.  If not get the CT exam and check the gall bladder.
I hope this helps, feel free to respond.
