Question
I have recently been diagnosed with an enlarged heart... about 5 years after  being told I have Ankylosing Spondylitis.  Could this enlarged heart be a side effect of the inflamation that the A.S. Causes.

Answer
Hi,

This is outside my expertise I think, and it would best be answered by the doctor who diagnosed you with the A.S. 5 years ago and who knows your case history and progress intimately. While cardiac hypertrophy comes from age itself or a number of cardiovascular conditions, I think the best person to speak to would be a cardiologist, and perhaps your doctor may refer you to one should you pose this question to him/her.
