Question
Hi,
I had arthoscopic surgery on my left knee for a torn meniscus in August 2009. I went to PT and a few days after the surgery, I started developing a pinching pain and feeling of tightness in the back of my left knee and calf.  It started slowly and over time it bothered me every time I walked.  The surgeon thought I had knee tendonitis and possibly a calf strain & kept me in to PT.  I've been in PT since then because the pain has never gone away.  In December 2009, I started getting the same pain in my right leg and I notice when I'm sitting that my hamstrings also feel very tight, and start to burn when I'm sitting for a while. I also think my calves feel very sensitive to the touch. I feel as though both legs feel tight and hurt from walking/stretching and I get this burning sensation in my leg muscles.  I also have scoliosis and the right side of my back has been bothering me as well (from my neck to lower back).  The surgeon still seems to think I have tendonitis and muscle strain but I'm thinking it has something to do with my back.  I was just wondering if you have any opinion on this.  I didn't have any issues with my legs before the arthoroscopic surgery.  I'm feeling very frustrated because it's been 5 months and I can't walk for very long or exercise normally.  The only exercises I do are at PT. Do you think I should seek chiropractic help at this point?  Thank you.

Answer
Christina,
your surgeon should know better. How could you have a muscle strain if your were not even active (post surgery) he completely overlooked your scoliosis and the idea of a pninched nerve. some advice, Change doctors.
Yes, you should definitely see A chiropractor. I had scoliosis as a child as well and I can tell you chiropractic should
be a part of your health routine (just like a dental tooth cleaning).
If you have scoliosis, then you have an increased chance of spinal problems , degenerative disc disease and arthritis.
It sounds like a case of sciatica to me and a
chiropractor is perfect to see for that.
