Question
Hello Dr.Kulla , and thank you for thanking the time to read and answer my question. I'm 26 years old, a nurse and I have scoliosis, but besides this I have no history of any diseases and I am a healthy personal in general. I recently gave birth to our first daughter 6 months ago. For about one year I have had this issue. But it has gotten WORSE after the birth. (march 2011) I have been having what seems to be these very usual audible (for me only) 'clicks' behind my ears.. It seems like there is a some 'pressure some minor pain on the skull bones behind my ears and when I press it I hear a click from the bones itself. I have even 'pressed' on the top of my skull and heard the 'clicking' noise. The other day I pressed on the top of my skull where I felt pressure, and i heard the clicking sound, but to my surprise I felt immediate pain deep within my left ear!! ADD: Also i have the 'need' to crack my neck every morning, and a few times thoughout the day. I went to my family doctor with this concern and he checked my hearing, and my nerves, and sent me home with a corticosteroid nasal spray..and says if more symptoms present itself he will do some tests..but its bothering SO much..what IS this odd this that has happened to me..Can you help me, and find out what it is?? Thank-you so much!!!

Answer
yes, because you have scoliosis you have misaligned vertebrae in the spine and the neck can compensate and often does for subluxations in the lower spine. the clicking noise can be a few things. it is most likely due to added tension across the shoulders from carrying your newborn (congrats!)you must realign the spine to prevent and fix that clicking noise as well as release the tension. i would consult a chiropractor in your area and give it at least 6-8 weeeks to clear up with a few visits a week. you will be fine, just don't let this linger any longer.
